1. Who we are
SAARTI – Debt Free (“SAARTI”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Saarti Traders, Mundka, Delhi, India. We decide why and how your personal information is used in the app, so under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we act as the “Data Fiduciary”. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the app you confirm that you have read it.
2. What we collect
We collect only what the app needs to work. Most of it is information you type in yourself.
| Category | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address and password (used to sign in; the password is handled by our authentication system) | Create and secure your account, recover access |
| Profile | Name, phone number, date of birth, and optionally your PAN | Personalise the app, support requests, match your credit report to you |
| Records you add (My Data) | Credit cards (limits, outstanding, due dates) and loans (lender name, loan amount, balance, interest rate, EMI, tenure), plus payments you mark as paid | Show your monthly dues, EMI summary and debt-free plans |
| Credit report (optional) | A CIBIL report PDF that you upload, and the details read from it such as score, accounts, balances and account status | Show your report in the app and compare it with your own records |
| Local Financer (optional) | A loan request or message you choose to post or send | Help you reach lenders you pick |
| Technical information | Device type, Android version, app version, error and crash logs, notification token | Keep the app working, fix bugs, deliver reminders |
We do not collect your bank login details, UPI PIN, card numbers or CVV, and we do not read your SMS messages, contacts or photos. Please never type such details into the app’s notes or free-text fields.
3. How we use your information
- To create your account, sign you in and keep it secure.
- To organise your cards, loans and EMIs, and show your monthly dues and totals.
- To send bill and EMI reminders that you have switched on.
- To compare your credit report with your own records and highlight differences.
- To generate tips, strategies and consolidation suggestions from the data you have entered.
- To answer your support requests and handle complaints.
- To detect misuse, protect the service and meet legal obligations.
- To improve the app using technical and aggregated usage information.
We use your information for these purposes based on your consent, and where the law allows, for legitimate uses such as security and legal compliance. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 9).
4. Credit report and PAN
Uploading a credit report and entering a PAN are optional. When you upload a report, you are asking SAARTI to read it and show you the details. SAARTI is not a credit bureau and does not change your credit report: the Compare screen only places your report beside your own records, and any update happens in your records in My Data, and only if you choose to sync.
Credit reports and PAN are sensitive. We use them only to provide the features you asked for and do not use them for advertising. You can delete an uploaded report or your PAN from the app, or ask us to do it (see Account Deletion).
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal or financial data. We share information only in these cases:
- Service providers who help us run the app, such as cloud hosting, authentication, database storage, push notifications and error reporting. They may process data only on our instructions and for these purposes.
- Lenders you choose. If you use Local Financer and decide to post a loan request or contact a lender, the details you choose to submit can be seen by that lender or lenders. Nothing is sent to a lender unless you take that action.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, court order or a government authority, or to protect the rights and safety of users and SAARTI.
- Business changes. If SAARTI is merged with or transferred to another business, your information may move with it, and this policy will continue to apply unless you are told otherwise.
Our providers may store data on servers located outside India. Where that happens we expect them to protect it to a standard comparable to this policy.
6. App permissions and reminders
The app may ask for permission to send notifications (for bill and EMI reminders) and to access a file you pick (such as your credit report PDF). We use these only for those features, and you can turn them off in your phone’s settings. Reminders are a convenience; please also check your lender statements and due dates.
7. Storage and security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your information, including access controls and encrypted connections between the app and our servers. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password, keep your phone locked and tell us at once if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can edit or remove individual cards and loans, use Reset All My Data in My Data to clear everything you entered, or delete your whole account. After you ask us to delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except for what we must keep to meet legal, tax, security or dispute-resolution requirements. Copies in secure backups are overwritten in the normal backup cycle. Full steps are on the Account Deletion page.
9. Your choices and rights
Under applicable law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
- correct or update your data (most of it can be edited directly in the app);
- ask us to erase your data and close your account;
- withdraw your consent (this may mean some features can no longer work);
- nominate another person to exercise these rights for you in the event of your death or incapacity; and
- make a complaint to us, and if you are not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational.
To use any of these rights, write to us using the details in section 13. We may need to verify that the request really comes from you.
10. Children
SAARTI is meant for people aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. This website
This website only provides information about the app. It has no sign-in and no forms, and it does not use advertising cookies. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operations, under GitHub’s own privacy statement. If we add analytics in future, we will update this section first.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app grows. The date at the top shows the latest version. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
